An accident over the weekend occurred because a drunk passenger grabbed the wheel of the vehicle and crashed it. 

In a posting from the Kennewick Police Department, the accident occurred on the 2600 block of West 27th Avenue.

Here are the details of the incident as posted on the Kennewick Police Department's Facebook page:

On October 22nd, at or around 2116 hours units were dispatched to a collision that occurred near the 2600 block of W 27th Avenue.

Upon further investigation units on scene were advised the driver of the vehicle was providing a ride to his friend (passenger) who had allegedly been drinking.

As they traveled down W 27th Avenue the passenger allegedly attempted to take control of the vehicle by grabbing onto the steering wheel, thus causing the collision.

The occupants in the vehicle did sustain non-life-threatening injuries. This is an ongoing investigation.
