Kelsea Ballerini Invites Fan Battling Cancer as CMA Awards Date
Impressive newcomer Kelsea Ballerini has shot to the top of the who's-who list in country music, and she’s using her new, higher platform in the best way. The artist hit it off with Allie Allen — a fan who has been battling brain cancer off and on since 2013 — when visiting St. Jude, and now Ballerini is celebrating the end of Allen's most recent bout of radiation treatment by inviting her to the CMA Awards.
Ballerini posted an adorably genuine video invitation on Twitter, featuring mini videos from her makeup artist and stylist, who are all excited to spend the evening with Allen in Nashville on Nov. 4. In the video, Ballerini explains she knew Allen has a break from treatment and invites her to be her official date to Country Music's Biggest Night, noting that she’ll get all "glammed up" with Ballerini and get to walk the red carpet together before attending the actual ceremony.
Allen retweeted the request, so it’s probably safe to say she’s RSVP-ing "yes" to the invitation.
Ballerini is nominated for Female Vocalist of the Year, as well as New Artist of the Year at this year’s CMA Awards. She’s also performing at the event. The “Dibs” singer got to announce her own nominations alongside Steven Tyler in early September, and she seemed genuinely stunned to be named alongside some of country’s biggest stars.
Ballerini’s song “Love Me Like You Mean It" reached No. 1 earlier this year, and the singer has been on a steady climb ever since. "Dibs" is a Top 25 hit.
