Kellen Moore could become the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Moore, who was a standout quarterback at Prosser High School under his father, set the NCAA record for most wins at the position. The left-handed self-professed "football nerd" became the first quarterback to win 50 games, finishing with a 50-3 career record at Boise State.

Moore went undrafted in 2012, signing as a free agent with the Detroit Lions. It was his time spent as Dak Prescott's backup in Dallas that paved the way for his next football life: coaching. The two-time Kellen Moore Award winner retired as a player following the 2017 season to become the Cowboys' quarterbacks coach. The next year, he became the team's offensive coordinator, a position he holds today. This could change, however, as Moore is scheduled to interview with the Jacksonville Jaguars tonight (Friday, January 7th) for their head coaching position left vacant after a turbulent season under Urban Meyer.

Urban Meyer was fired before completing his first season as Jaguars head coach.

Meyer, who had a 2-11 record at the time of his ousting, dominated headlines in the sports world for all the wrong reasons. The three-time national champion left pundits puzzled when he signed Tim Tebow, his quarterback at Florida, to play tight end in the preseason. If only that was the worst thing he did.

The Urban Meyer bar video should have been the end of it.

After a 24-21 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals on the road, Meyer did not travel back to Jacksonville with his team, instead staying in Ohio to visit Urban Meyer's Pint House, a bar he owns. A video circulated around the internet of Meyer getting extracurricular with a much younger patron. The woman is seen dancing on the former coach's lap while Meyer appears to touch her behind. Meyer has been married to Shelley Meyer since 1986.

Allegations of player abuse ended the Urban Meyer experiment in Jacksonville.

Meyer's tenure with Jacksonville came to an end after Josh Lambo, a former kicker on the team, accused the coach of kicking him during warmups.

Will Kellen Moore become the next head coach of the Jaguars?

With the NFL trending toward younger, offensive-minded head coaches, odds seem to be in Moore's favor. Since becoming the Cowboys offensive coordinator, the team has won their division once and made the playoffs twice. If Moore lands the Jaguars gig, he will inherit a young team looking to change their trajectory. They drafted Clemson QB Trevor Lawrence first overall in last year's draft, and his rookie season struggles have the Jaguars picking no worse than second overall in the next draft. If Moore becomes head coach in Jacksonville, his work will surely be cut out for him.
