Really? You mean to tell me that the #1 wedding appetizer in CA, OR, and WA is not shrimp cocktail?!

With the rushing in of January comes wedding and bridal prep season. Many big cities will be hosting bridal expos, packed with tons of resources for making your special day truly memorable.

But let’s talk money, first.

HOW MUCH OF YOUR WEDDING BUDGET SHOULD THE FOOD BE?

I have never been married so I don’t know how much you’re supposed to spend on the major categories like food, flowers, dress, shoes, reception venue, church/wedding hall, and the DJ.

FUN FACT: The average cost for putting on a wedding in the U.S. is $30,000, according to The Knot, a well-known wedding planning resource.

Some wedding event consultants say that couples should plan on spending anywhere from 20% to 39% of your big day budget on food.

So, for example, if you’re planning to spend no more than $5,000 on your small wedding for up to 80 guests, then you’re looking at investing close to 2 grand on the food alone. Yikes!

Hard pass. I’m not spending two thousand dollars on wedding food. Y’all are going to eat some cheddar cheese and saltines at my wedding!
