Paul Hinkson Ironman 2024 Finish Line Video & Pics!
It's sort of embarrassing just how excited I got watching my boss complete the 70.3-mile Ironman race held here in the Tri-Cities this past weekend!
As Paul Hinkson neared the finish line at Columbia Point in Richland, I could not contain my excitement! It's clear I was more excited than he was!
Paul has been on a fitness journey for decades now. Diligently working out five days a week. He doesn't regularly compete in any races that I know of and I'm certain he has never even run a marathon.
I couldn't imagine enduring 70.3 miles of swimming, biking, and running even if you ARE in great shape!
How hard is training for an Ironman race?
Paul has got to be one of the most IN SHAPE guys I know. And this was his first race.
His goal was to complete the course, and he did that and had a pretty good time! His wife Heidi bought him a gym membership many years ago and that inspired them both to work out and get healthy.
Both their sons were there to congratulate their Dad too as the family met him at certain areas throughout the race to encourage and support him and then greeted him at the Finish line!
We are all so proud of him here at Townsquare Media. He is a great example of how important it is to stay strong and healthy. Although, I hope I never have to swiftly move through 70 or so miles at a fast pace!
Can anyone compete in Ironman?
This year Ironman Tri-Cities was the first for the Tri-Cities area and was projected to bring around 8 million dollars to our communities.
Sure the traffic got a little heavy over the weekend and you may have had to take a detour or two to get around Richland. But, It sure was fun for people. The community support was awesome to see.
With the added revenue for the Tri-Cities, I'm guessing we will see more events like this in the future!
