Hermiston Man Killed in Morrow County Freightliner Rollover Crash

Oregon State Police first responders found a single-vehicle rollover semi crash down an embankment nine miles south of Hermiston on Highway 207 in Morrow County that has claimed the life of a Hermiston man.

Troopers discovered a Freightliner truck that was traveling northbound on the highway before striking a guardrail, exiting the roadway and rolling down an embankment.

The driver, identified as Phillip Sharkey, 56, of Hermiston, died at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt.

Boardman Fire, Echo Fire, Umatilla County Fire District #1, the Morrow County Sheriff’s Office, and ODOT all responded to the scene to assist OSP.
