If my son Dustin had entered our Father's Day contest I know what he'd say. I pranked him real good a few weeks ago at the Social Security Administration office.

We were sitting in the lobby with our number waiting to get a duplicate SSN card and the security guard was a real stickler not taking any nonsense from anyone. I decided to go over the checklist with Dustin.
You got your driver's license?
"Yup"
You got your birth certificate?
"Yeah"
What about the passport?
"Right here"
And you can recite the Pledge of Allegiance?
"What?"
This is a federal office. They take that stuff really seriously. Before they help you with anything you've got to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
"Seriously?"
Seriously.
For the next five minutes I can hear him next to me trying to remember: "I Pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America..."
Finally I couldn't keep my laughter in anymore.
"I should have known. You totally got me. I can't believe I fell for that."

Hopefully he still finds it in his heart to give me something this Sunday!
