On the first of two back-to-back Madison Square Garden dates in New York City, Pink brought a special surprise for the audience during her Tuesday evening (May 21) show. Chris Stapleton joined the singer onstage for a live performance of their recent collaboration, "Love Me Anyway." Press play above to watch!

After Pink kicked off the song solo, Stapleton slowly made his way onto the stage, drawing cheers from the audience as he began to lend his iconic voice to the ballad. Together, the pair delivered soaring harmonies and Stapleton's signature vocal runs, backed by gentle strings and a piano.

After finishing the song, Pink jokingly fell down on the stage in admiration of Stapleton's vocal prowess, breathlessly telling the crowd, "That just happened!" Pink's accolades for the country singer continued on Instagram, where she wrote, "One of my favorite songwriters, favorite voice, and person. Chris Stapleton. What an absolute honor to share a stage with you, my friend."

Pink co-wrote "Love Me Anyway" with Allen Shamblin and Thomas Douglas, and included the song on her most recent album, Hurts 2B Human, which came out in April of 2019. Her Stapleton duet wasn't the first time Pink forayed into the country world: The pop star also collaborated with Kenny Chesney in 2016 for "Setting the World on Fire," as well as performing her song, "Barbies," at the 2017 CMA Awards.

Likewise, Stapleton has been known to dabble outside the genre. He's collaborated with pop icon Justin Timberlake several times, notably on "Say Something," off of Timberlake's Man of the Woods album.

The pair's Madison Square Garden performance marked a stop on Pink's 2019 Beautiful Trauma Tour. For his part, Stapleton is gearing up for a busy summer of performances and festival dates. He and his wife, Morgane Stapleton, recently welcomed their fifth child.
