I got a new Christmas tree on sale at Costco last year. I'm so excited about it that I want it up during our big family Thanksgiving dinner this year. Everyone's coming to our place! My wife said that's too soon, so I opened it up to a vote. My wife checked the results. I asked how I did. Her exact words: "You got your ass kicked." See for yourself:

• Exactly two-thirds of responses said the day AFTER Thanksgiving (Black Friday) is the soonest I can put a tree up.
• 15 percent said I could put it up after dinner, but no sooner.
• 1 percent said they leave theirs up all year.
• Only 18 percent agreed with me.
