It's possible a lot of fast-food joints in Seattle will be short on fries for a while

westbound I-90 crash sends 45 tons of fries into a ditch

The Washington State Patrol now says luckily no injuries in a wild crash Wednesday morning.

Authorities say this semi-truck, loaded with 45 tons, or 90K lbs. of french fries, crashed into a ditch on Interstate 90 near Cle Elum. The westbound truck was just west of the interchange with State Route 970, not far from the town.

The driver apparently lost control shortly after 7 AM and the truck ended up winding off the road, then rolling down a 70-foot embankment and coming to a rest against some trees.

Miraculously, the driver was NOT hurt.  Authorities have not said where the fries were specifically headed to, or if they were crinkle cut or thinner fast-food style.

But, it could be in the Seattle area, it's possible they won't be asking "do you want fries with that?" when you hit the fast-food joints.

The crash did cause some minor delays later Wednesday and possibly Thursday as crews worked to retrieve the truck and what's left of the cargo--if it's salvageable.

No information was released on the potential financial loss of the cargo, the dollar value of the load.
