Feeling bored? According to the experts the next few weeks of the year are the most challenging for those of us who suffer from the winter blues, cabin fever, and winter depression. So, how can you defeat these feelings? Here's some ideas I came up with for fighting the boredom.

  • 1

    GET OUT OF THE HOUSE

Seems like a no brainer. Go for a walk along the river, browse the mall, attend a hockey game. The main thing is to get out of the house.

  • 2

    EXERCISE

Go to the gym, for a jog, or hop on your treadmill. Just do it - sitting on the couch will make things worse.

  • 3

INVITE FRIENDS OVER FOR A PARTY

Pick up some chips, dip, beverages, expensive cheese, board games, ...you get the idea. Fill the house full of friends.

  • 4

    DO YOUR SPRING CLEANING EARLY

Why not? Tear into those messy closets and drawers and make a pile for Goodwill. Do the deep indoor house cleaning now. This is a cure all for me - I can't stand it when the house is cluttered up. When it's back in order - I feel in order (probably a condition in itself huh).

FLY SOUTH FOR THE WINTER OR A FEW DAYS

The birds do it - why don't we? If you can, plan a vacation in the southwest. Allegiant Air has direct routes to LA and Vegas. Three days in Vegas could be just what you need to defeat the winter blues. What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...right?
