Tired of the same ol burgers joints? There are a lot of little well-known spots all over the Northwest to get great fast food. Here are 5 of my favorite spots.

#5- Miners – If you have traveled across Washington State through Yakima while in school, your bus probably stopped here. The signature burger is “The Big Miner”, is one of the largest burgers I have ever tried. If that is not big enough, try “The Double big Miner”. Their milkshakes are also famous for being really, really thick. You might need a spoon to drink it.

#4- East Side Big Tom – Dick's usually gets all the attention when talking about burgers in Seattle, but Big Toms has been around since 1948 in Olympia. Easily spotted by the hug sign with Big Tom and his checkerboard pants on the huge sign. Besides great burgers and fries, Big Tom has a large collection of dinosaurs outside as a throwback to old roadside attractions of the past.

#3- Burger Ranch – If you have lived in the Tri-Cities, you have had a burger at Burger Ranch. Located in Kennewick next to Big 5, they are another local place that reminds me of Zips. Their best item has to be their milkshakes or the fried mushrooms everyone talks about. I think they have the best milkshakes around, perfect flavor and thickness.

#2- Ron’s Drive In – A burger staple in the Spokane Valley since 1958, Ron’s is one of my favorites. Very similar to Zips but better. Something about their food keeps me coming back. They have different deals every day of the week like “Monday Bag of Burgers” for $14.99 or “Sunday Chicken”. They would be my favorite spot on the list if it were not for number one.

#1- Hudsons Hamburgers – Established in 1907, yes I said 1907, Hudson’s has what I think is the best burger in the planet. Located at 207 E. Sherman Ave in Coeur d' Alene Idaho, they are still serving the same basic menu the same way that they did over 100 years ago.  You can only order a single or double hamburger or cheese burger with only pickles or onions, soda, milkshakes, or pie. There are no specialty burgers and you can’t even order French fries. I think it is their special sauce and amazing ingredients that make it so special.

One last thing, make sure you get there early because there is always a line down the street.

Regional Fast Food Chains Tri-Cities Needs

As Tri-Cities keeps growing, we've seen more fast-food chains bring their food into our community. But we'd be lying if we said we didn't want a few more to set up shop down the street. Chicken sandwiches, sliders, deep-dish pizza; we'll take it all. These are the regional joints we can't wait to welcome with open mouths.
