Amanda Knox of Seattle spent nearly a decade in an Italian prison suspected of aiding the murder of her roommate. In Italy the courts are allowed to retry a case over and over so after numerous appeals she was finally released in 2015. After finally coming home, Knox is now going back.

The former University of Washington student has been invited to talk about her experiences at an "Innocence Project" conference in Modena. The Innocence Project wrangles resources to provide a defense team for convicted persons whose trial circumstances were suspicious. The Italian chapter of the group did not exist when Knox was on trial.

The former inmate is now a journalist and advocate for people whose defense trials have irregularities. She will come to Modena to share how media reporting of her trial influenced jurors.

Knox graduated from Seattle Preparatory School before heading to UW to study linguistics.
