Thomas Rhett and his wife, Lauren Akins, are expecting their third child! Akins announced the news with a series of images posted to her Instagram page, as well as video footage of their gender reveal -- and Rhett's reaction to finding out that he was going to be a dad to a third daughter.

"We decided we didn't have enough princess dresses around the house so we're adding another Akins baby girl to the family early next year ... despite Thomas Rhett's initial shock," Akins writes. "We are absolutely over the moon for our baby girl!"

"Excited to share that I will now be paying for 3 weddings😂" Rhett writes on his own Instagram page. "I feel so blessed to say that our third child is on the way and it’s a girl!! ... Bring on the crazy."

In an interview with DJ and radio personality Bobby Bones, Rhett revealed that the due date for the birth of their next child is February 3, 2020. The singer also shared that prior to the gender reveal, his family had been convinced that the new addition would be a boy -- but that he was overjoyed to welcome another daughter.

"I think before we had kids I always thought that I was meant to be the dad that had boys, but now that I've had girls, my heart has softened so much," Rhett explains. "I have never looked at anybody like I look at my girls. It is nuts, the emotion that you feel when you put 'em down to be and say, 'Alright, love you, baby girl,' and [they say], 'I love you, daddy.' It breaks your heart every single time."

He goes on to say that the couple isn't done having children -- not even close. "Me and Lauren both would love to adopt again, whenever the time is right," he says. "Lauren's number [of how many children she wants] is five. I think when we get to five, my wife'll probably be like, 'We can do six.' That's just the kind of person my wife is."

The proud parents-to-be aren't the only ones excited for the new arrival, Akins continues: Their two daughters, Willa Gray and Ada James, can't wait to meet their baby sister. "Willa Gray prays for her every night (heart in a puddle every time)," Akins shares, "& she and Ada James love to touch my baby and talk to her."

Rhett's family life has always been a big part of his music, with hits like "Life Changes" talking directly about his experience getting married and becoming a father. His newest album, Center Point Road, is no exception: Many of its songs speak directly about his relationship with Akins, and how their marriage has evolved throughout all the personal and professional changes in their lives.

The couple got married in 2012, when they were in their early 20s. In 2017, Rhett and Akins officially welcomed home Willa Gray, who they adopted from Uganda, Africa. Later that year, Akins gave birth to their second child, Ada James.
