NFL Players Try to Sing Carrie Underwood and It’s … Uh, Really Something [Watch]
NFL players are great at football, but could some of them have a hidden singing talent?
Not these members of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Dallas Cowboys, who stepped up and did their best Carrie Underwood impressions. Last Sunday night, the Steelers hosted the Cowboys in one of the most anticipated regular season matchups of the early season.
Anyone who watches NBC's Sunday Night Football knows that country's own Underwood always kicks off the broadcast with her rendition of "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night," but when members of the Cowboys and Steelers were asked to sing along, it made a for a funny, yet tough, listen.
Have to give the guys credit here, as they did their best, and Carrie is a very tough act to follow.
The history of the Sunday Night Football theme is a bit interesting: The first version, performed by Pink, was based on Joan Jett's “I Hate Myself for Loving You." Pink’s energetic version only lasted one season before Faith Hill took over in 2007.
That gave way to Underwood, and at that time, the theme song underwent some changes, including some different versions and even some completely different songs.
But NBC and Underwood have made their way back to what got them started on Sunday nights, and as we have seen, no one else can do it like Carrie Underwood.
