Fans eagerly waiting for the sequel to Kevin Costner's Horizon: An American Saga will not be happy to hear the film's release has been delayed. Deadline reports Chapter 2 will not be hitting theaters on Aug. 16 as it was originally scheduled.

In fact, it may not be hitting theaters at all and instead be released on Warner Bros. streaming service, Max.

Why Is Kevin Costner's Horizon Sequel Delayed?

According to the production company New Line Cinema, the delay will give more people an opportunity to watch the first film and ultimately generate more buzz about the second film.

“Territory Pictures and New Line Cinema have decided not to release Horizon: Chapter 2 on August 16 in order to give audiences a greater opportunity to discover the first installment of Horizon over the coming weeks, including on PVOD and MAX," a New Line rep says in a statement. "We thank our exhibition partners for their continued support as moviegoers across the US discover the film in its theatrical run.”

“The audience response to Horizon, and enthusiasm for seeing our story continue in Horizon 2, has been incredibly gratifying," Territory Pictures adds. "Kevin made this film for people who love movies and who wanted to go on a journey. The support that we have received from film fans, and the theater owners, as they experience the first chapter of this saga only serves to reinforce our belief in them and the films that we have made, and we thank them for coming on board for the ride."

The luxury retreat also features a baseball field, a sledding hill, an ice rink, multiple hot tubs and views of the Continental Divide. The ranch property comfortably sleeps 27 people, and it's currently available to rent for 36,000 a night.
