Back in the 1990s, the Seahawks weren't quite as popular as they are now. Forces were at work to move the team down to California when Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen decided to intervene.

He set up a deal where he would buy the Seahawks if he could get a tax-funded stadium built for them to play in. The vote wouldn't have passed considering that the team's move was going through without much protest.

Some soccer fans decided to change that, if they were allowed to have an MLS soccer team installed within the city. The vote passed with a 51%-49% count.

If not for the hardworking Sounders fans, your beloved Seahawks would not exist today.
