A grandmother and her granddaughter were blown a mile off shore by wind on the Columbia River in a small raft and had to be saved by a Pasco fire rescue boat.

The pair were floating in a raft near Hover Park in Finley when wind blew the raft off shore. They could not get back and needed help getting rescued.

They had to be spotted by firefighters with binoculars and eventually picked up by a Pasco fire rescue boat unharmed.

The rescue involved Benton County Fire District 1, the sheriff's office, Kennewick and Pasco fire departments and Columbia Basin Dive Rescue, according to reports.
