Allow me to answer a question with a question: how much do you really know about swastikas?

The word actually comes from India where it means "well-being" and is an important symbol in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. The symbol has been found in ancient art on nearly every continent going back thousands of years.

Prior to World War II the swastika was mostly honored in America as a Native American symbol -- primary of the Hopi and Navajo. A quick search revealed several turn-of-the-century sports teams wearing the symbol.

Unfortunately Adolph Hitler ruined the symbol for us in Europe and North America and the swastika will always be creepy to me.

Little is known about the photo above other than it was taken in 1925 in either Richland or White Bluffs.
