In 1908 the Olympic games was held in London. However these games went on for six months!

The games were scheduled to be held in Rome but in 1906 Mount Vesuvius erupted and caused damage in Naples. Italy decided to cancel their plans and moved the games to London and scheduled it to be a "summer season" lasting from April through October.
