As the Richland, WA school district begins to phase out swings on the playground because of the "danger," lets look back on some of the things we did as kids...and lived to tell about it:

**We drank from the garden hose
**We rode our bikes without helmets...helmets were for motorcycles and medical conditions
**Uncle Howard would tow us kids in a Radio Flyer wagon behind his motorcycle
**There were no childproof containers or warning labels. It was either out of our reach or we were told not to touch it and minded.
**We went sledding. Steep, fast sledding.
**We had roller skates that barely stayed on our tennis shoes.
**We climbed trees
**We "hookey bobbed" cars in the winter
**We were unbuckled and could lay all the way across the back seat in the car
**We played with homemade sling shots and BB guns
**And perhaps scariest of all: our parents would send us out to play without 'bubble wrapping' us like some parents do today...
