With people loosing everything in fires in the area, there is a large spike of donations to charities that collect funds for fire victims. With that large spike comes charity scammers that use fake logos, websites, and tactics to take advantage of peoples generosity.

How do you know if the charity you want to donate is real? I found some tips in an article too tell-tail tactics that scammers use to pressure people into their scams.

-Never donate to organizations that insist on only cash donations or checks made to them personally.

-They will lack details about who will benefit, how the donations are distributed, and what percentages of the donations that benefit the cause.

-They will be very aggressive and have strange deadlines.

-Do a search of their websites or any information you can find on the company, then search with the keyword "scam".

-Watch for strange emails or unwanted social media posts or contacts.
