Did the ancient Chinese discover the Puget Sound? A very old Chinese poem mentions a mythical land called Fusang. In the 5^th century a Chinese monk claimed to have found it. He described natives living in peculiar ways, eating peculiar foods. For many years people considered it the Chinese “Gulliver’s Travels” but some anthropologists believe the description of the natives resembles many traditions of Puget-Sound-area Native Americans! Is it possible Asian monks visited British Columbia and Washington 1500 years ago? Some scholars believe Chinese explorers FREQUENTLY visited North and South America. One believes 3,300-year-old petroglyphs in New Mexico (long-thought to be Native American symbols) are actually Chinese characters recording an important event.
