A 15-year-old brought a shotgun and 9mm pistol to junior high school smuggled under a large coat.

His parents were in the hallway on their way to his first-period class after noticing the weapons missing from home.
During class the boy shot the gun into the ceiling and then held it to his neck.

A nearby classmate and the teacher rushed to the student and prevented him from firing it again. The parents disarmed him and he was taken to juvenile detention on several charges.

The school is in Bountiful, Utah, about 20 minutes north of Salt Lake City.

Two and a half weeks ago a high school boy not much older smuggled a knife into the locker room and stabbed five classmates while they dressed for gym. That was in Orem, about an hour south of Salt Lake City.
