Supporters who want to legalize marijuana in Washington will be turning in signatures this week to qualify their initiative. If all goes as planned for, New Approach Washington, initiative 502 could be on the November ballot.

In a nutshell, supporters want to legalize pot, so someone could buy a certain amount and set standards for what you could have in your system while driving. 502 would allow state-licensed growers, processors and stores, and all would be taxed of course. That should get the governorsattention. The debate will rage on though, is pot worse than alcohol? Does smoking pot lead to harder drugs? Will more young people smoke it if it is more available? I say it all comes down to responsibility for each person. With all the strict laws we have about underage drinking, is it stopping people under the age of 21 from getting booze, no. This is going to offend some people, but here is the deal. I don't buy the he or she was to young to realize what they were doing was wrong. Even if you have the worst parents in the world, if you are in your teens and you rob a bank while drunk and high as a kite, you still know it's wrong. Most parents try to raise their kids the best they can, while some parents think their kids can do no wrong, and some unfortunately just don't care. Who knows, maybe if pot is legalized some of the gang violence would decrease, supply and demand baby! I can honestly say smoking pot can help you get through certain medical experiences, but yes are still people who will abuse that privilege. I find it a little odd that our Government is so against people firing up a fatty, yet a pharmaceutical company wants to release a new pain pill that is more powerful and addictive than anything on the market, and all we do is shake our heads. Maybe it's the simple fact that 'Someone', doesn't get their pockets lined with cash from pot supporters. I don't have all the answers, that's why Irely on listeners for input. Do you support the legalization of Marijuana in the state of washington?
