A shark attacked a surfer on Monday afternoon just off Indian Beach (near Cannon Beach) Oregon. Evidently it's common to see Great White sharks in the area between August and October.

My oldest son Anthony (pictured) was actually surfing at the time about a mile south of the attack. He reports that there was a Great White sighted a few weeks ago at Pacific Beach. I'm amazed at the amount of shark attacks involving Great Whites on the Oregon coast -  just in the last 10 years. I use the word attack, but I'm guessing it is a case of mistaken identity. The surfers wear black wet suits and essentially look like seals.
