In a time of economic grief, Ronnie Dunn‘s hit ‘Cost of Livin’‘ resonates with many people — not just country music fans. That’s why the song has been picked up as the central theme of two upcoming TV episodes of ‘The Doctors’ and ‘Dr. Phil.’

Each show will run a full episode focusing on the issues that the song brings to light, with attention to real life Americans that have been adversely affected by the economic downturn. ‘The Doctors’ is scheduled to air on Dec. 5, while ‘Dr. Phil’ will run on Dec. 13, and Dunn will appear in person on each show.

The former Brooks and Dunn singer allegedly first had the song in his lineup back in 2008, but didn’t release it because some were sure that the economy would start to improve soon. It hasn’t — but Dunn says he’s happy to be the voice of the millions that are struggling with money issues, whether they simply can’t find jobs or can’t even put food on the table.

“The feedback on the song is overwhelming,” Dunn commented. “I’ve never had a song that’s seemingly as relevant to the times and spot on to what’s going on in America and the world right now.”
