In an effort to make room for new shops and restaurants, the 1950s fire station and city hall on George Washington Way are being relocated.

A new building on the corner of Jadwin and Swift will house city hall, the city manager's office, and development services.

The fire station will move in with the police station adjacent to John Dam Plaza. The city says this is in an effort to bring in more retail and other businesses along the Columbia River corridor, making the area even more attractive to visitors.
