The Red Solo Cup Mystery Solved!

Have you ever wondered what those lines on the plastic Red Solo cups mean?

Me neither.

BUT some of my friends were under the impression the lines were measurements.

The first line is the one-ounce mark, the next line is the five ounce mark, and the third line is the 12 ounce mark, etc. This is NOT true!

Snopes.com contacted the Dart Container Corporation, which makes the cups, and they said, quote, “The Lines on our Party Cups are designed for functional performance, and are NOT measurement lines. If the lines do coincide with certain measurements, it is purely coincidental.”
