Michigan State University has a course known as the "popcorn course." Students spent a semester learning tasty lessons in research and food science. The class is officially called "Science of the Foods We Love." The course wrapped up this month with a visit to the Nebraska headquarters of ConAgra Foods. The students presented findings on how to improve the company's Orville Redenbacher popcorn. They used lab time to look at ways to improve the snack. ConAgra helped pay for the work and sent two scientists to visit the class in East Lansing.
