Kennewick police got reports of a woman stealing packages of porches from a witness in the Park Hills neighborhood just after 2 in the afternoon.

The witness managed to keep the thief is sight until police arrived and allegedly found 35 year old Tashene Jackson with stolen mail.

Jackson had the stolen package on her person as well as other stolen mail from both Kennewick and Pasco. Some of the mail were bank documents and cards, according to reports.

She was charged with Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree but the prosecuting attorney's office is investigating and more charges are possible.

Jackson is being held on $5,000 bail at the Benton County Jail.

Over the weekend officers responded to the area of the 900 block of Park Hills Dr. in Kennewick for the report of a female removing a package from a porch. The reporting party was able to keep the suspect, later identified as 35 year old Tashene Jackson, in sight until officers arrived. Jackson was contacted by officers and was allegedly found to have the package in her possession as well as several other pieces of mail from numerous victims in both Kennewick and Pasco. Several of these items consisted of banking type documents and cards. Jackson was booked into Benton County Jail for Possession of Stolen Property 2nd Degree and the prosecuting attorney's office will be reviewing the case for additional charges.

Officers have been able to contact most of the victims and return their property. We are continuing to attempt contact with the remaining victims.

As we enter the holiday season we will likely be seeing more of this type of activity.
