Kennewick police have been getting lots of complaints about loud car stereos around the city now that the weather has warmed up. They want to remind you of the laws about loud car stereos.

"KMC 11.36.120.5 states: "No person who is the operator or owner of a vehicle shall permit any audio system in or on that vehicle to make any sound audible outside the passenger compartment at a frequency below 138 Hz or that is otherwise amplified by a subwoofer or to allow the sound of other audible frequencies for more than 50 feet outside the passenger compartment."

That basically means if your stereo can be heard from a distance of more then 50 feet away outside your car, you are at risk for a ticket from the KPD.

If the cop can hear your bass, he will probably pull you over and write you a $136 ticket.
