Kelly Clarkson is one of the biggest names in all of music, but the superstar insists she struggles to find collaborators.

"I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no," 32-year-old Clarkson shares with Entertainment Tonight. "I'm not kidding you. I have legitimately asked several people that I'm not going to call out."

It's been speculated that Clarkson's past criticism of music industry moguls like Clive Davis may give potential collaborators cause for concern. But others believe it's simply a matter of finding the right people to ask in the first place.

"I ask good people. I don't want to sing with crap people, so I mean, I ask people who are great vocalists, but I'm not going to point out anyone," Clarkson adds. "I have asked several people ... Sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they're like, 'If you get too close ...'"

Thankfully, the Grammy Award-winning crossover star has found some remarkable talent for her upcoming album. "I got John Legend to say yes, and he's cool," she says excitedly. "I can get country artists to sing with me and John Legend! I'm gonna keep John Legend. He's super credible and talented. I feel very good about myself with that one."

Clarkson's new album, Piece by Piece, comes out March 3, and while it's classified as pop, fans will find country influences on the release. As Clarkson explains, "I am always influenced by music I love, which is pop-rock/country/r&b/dance."
