The reason food in the U.S. looks so pretty in the produce section is farmers throw away the weird ones. Still fresh, still nutritious, this food is just the wrong shape. One Canadian company has had enough of that.

Loblaw Companies Limited is now offering a line of products called "no name Naturally Imperfect" in Ontario and Quebec. Right now it's just apples and potatoes, but Loblaw intends to expand.

These bags of apples and potatoes will be priced 30-percent less.

To be fair, not all of this produce was thrown away. Some was sent to plants for use in juices, sauces and soups.

Wow, maybe it should be called Can-a-DUH!
