It was such a fantastic weekend, with Mother’s Day and all!

My kids were in town, I played music both nights at two great venues! RF McDougals and Thomas Oneil Cellars. Harp Player Casey Peterson jumped in for a song on Friday and she was awesome! Then on Sat Allen Osbourne and Kevin Williams jumped in with us from Stompin Ground!

I had great times with fabulous friends!

But, my kids had to fly home to where they reside, and all the fun is over and now and we all have to focus on work.

I love my job and I love all of you listeners! Yet, I am finding it difficult to get much done today!

Anyone else feeling this way? I hope you ALL had a FANTASTIC weekend!

The other day I posted a pic and recipe’s for dry, brittle hair help that I had found on facebook!

I have been advised by my hair stylist to STOP using a flat iron.

So, I thought I’d try the recipe from facebook.

It said olive oil and eggs, mix, apply for 20 minutes and rinse. Simple enough right?

Here’s what went down…and the results.

“Fitch” (a worker guy at Costco) was such a sweetie and helped me locate what I needed, and by the time I got done picking out what I wanted in that store, there were 5 worker guys hangin’ out helping me! They are so nice at Costco, I just love that! Boy don’t I wish I had them all at my house to put the darn thing together! Cause it was NOT easy!

I swear, I have put one of these things together before but I must have lost that part of my brain because the simple assembly turned into a long drawn out frustrating mess! How could I NOT be able to do this quickly? There weren’t many pieces!

When I got the whole thing done, I looked at it and realized I put all the shelves upside down! Man, I hate doing this stuff! I did better at putting together my Gazebo that I bought from Lowes not long ago.

Anyway, I was CLOSE to jumping on facebook and asking if there was some capable MAN out there that could help me!

Then my feminist female screamed at me! “You don’t NEED a MAN to help you with anything!” And then I settled into…Yea, I really do…but I’ll manage.

So, I finally finished. Had to skip my morning jog, but I got it done and made it to work on time! Okay, so now for the pics. Don’t laugh at me cause it really should have been simple.

Things are always simple once you’ve done them and are in the KNOW! So now it seems silly that it was so hard. But, it was the stupid little collar things that didn’t seem to fit right. And honestly… the instructions were no help at all!

I’ve been nostalgic for my childhood lately and was remembering the way youth soccer used to be in Tri-Cities. My kids are too young to play now, so I can’t compare and contrast, but here are my favorite things about the way things used to be:

• The Patches – every year you played you received that year’s patch. Each year was colored and designed a little differently. You sewed them onto your white shorts like Boy/Girl Scout badges.
• The Uniforms – everyone wore white shorts. Your socks and shirt were for your city. Green was Kennewick, Red was Richland, Blue was Pasco, Light Blue was West Richland. If two teams from the same city played each other, the shirts were reversible. Kennewick and Richland were yellow inside. Pasco and West Richland were white.
• The Cheer Squad – every team had a team mom who created a large felt banner for displaying at the games. The banner depicted your team name and a picture of your mascot. The banners varied in quality, but they were all beautiful pieces of art.
• No Sunday Games – I know this was hard on Jewish and 7th Day Adventist kids, but it was so nice to play sports and not compromise your sabbath.
• The Names – kids would choose their team name when the team was first organized, but then the name stuck for the life of the team. Kids were usually grouped by neighborhood, so as long as you lived in the same area you were on the same team. That meant each year the team rosters were pretty much the same and it felt like a professional league. I started on Lightening in Richland, then went to Nighthawks in Kennewick until I finished by “career” with the Tigers. I was temporarily with the Ghostballs.
• Coaching – every year coaches went to special training to lead skill development. Teams usually practiced twice a week. Kids really developed a strong relationship with the coaches and their teammates. Everyone developed their skills because they had good instruction and practice.
• Competitive teams didn’t start until you were a teen – it seems like today anyone with talent is snatched up by a competitive league that requires dozens of hours of practice each week (and almost year-round). The cost is hundreds of dollars. Traveling long distances is required. The stress on kids and parents is ridiculous. If a kid doesn’t show talent (maybe because he/she has never had a good coach) they’re stuck on a free-for-all team where kids basically show up once a week and kick a ball around. This isn’t true of everywhere, of course, but it’s a growing trend in American soccer.

You may remember my son Brenden who graduated from Hanford High school.

He lives in Texas now, but he recently released a phone App. It’s Called  Photomoticon and it’s really fun!

I’m not very good at figuring this stuff out, but this App is pretty simple. You can add all kinds of fun graphics to the pics on your phone and then send them to friends.

Well, it’s no secret that often I feel a bit lonely now that  I’m in the studio alone…so, I have pulled in a partner! Sure it’s no “Morning Show” (teehee) but, hey…I’m willing to give this guy a try!

He’s little, and sort of has an attitude! but, I’m enjoying him so far! Although I caught him sneaking bites of my banana!

And drinking from MY MUG!

Then he got all bossy and started telling me how to do my job!

I have to say…he doesn’t have a very good radio voice, so I’m not letting him talk much! But, he is hangin’ out with me! And I appreciate the company!

Meet “Bill”

The charter bus was out of British Columbia, heading there from Las Vegas.

Early Sunday, shortly after 10:30am, emergency crews from nearly 15 different agencies responded to the report of a crash involving a charter bus that rolled down a hill near Cabbage Hill not far from Pendleton on I-84.

The bus was carrying at least 40 passengers,  and apparently slid on the icy road, broke the guardrail, and rolled down a steep embankment several hundred feet.  Sadly, 9 people are confirmed dead, with at least 26 injured and in hospitals around the Northwest.

Authorities still have not released names, pending notification of relatives for bot the deceased and injured.  We have some photographs of the incident.  It perhaps serves as a reminder to drive extra carefully, and maybe even delay travel until conditions improve.  The Oregon roads were hit much harder than most of ours in the Columbia Basin.

This story even made national news on Fox, CNN and other sources.

I saw a number of accidents on the way between Ellensburg and Cle Elum though  But, the passes were fairly good.

My son lives in Bothel. The trip was short. Just Sat night to Sun morning, because I had to be back for work. But, at least I got to go and it was fun!

I think I hate wind more than anyone, but maybe not! I spent most of the night awake and had to assess the damage in the morning when it was finally light outside.

My BBQ was thrown way out into the yard, my wine  barrels also tossed around the yard, My Gazebo, my dog house…the canopy from the pick up…All way far from their original places.

I don’t know what the wind speed was last night, but it had to be the strongest so far this year! Crazy Tri-cities wind huh?

If you have never done it…You may want to re-consider!

Okay so today I got up real early and hiked the back side of Badger Mountain with my two dogs and a friend and it WAS AWESOME! I can see why people love to do that!

What a great way to start the day!

It was real foggy and cloudy and kind of misty out but it was actually very pleasant. It’s a great hike! Not too hard and not too long. Took us about an hour! I only snapped a few pics because you couldn’t really see much cause of the fog. The pic of my dogs asleep on their beds was after the hike! Yay! Maybe they won’t be so eager to chew up stuff if I do that with them everyday!

If you know me…you know I HATE the cold! And it’s difficult for me to get motivated to exercise out in it. Last year though, I bought some real good layer clothing from REI that keeps me really warm! So I have no excuse!

I think I’m going to plan on doing it everyday! That should help get me in shape right? Then I think I’m going to start doing HOT Bikram Yoga again…Love that too!

My boss Paul Drake will once again be doing the Annual Polar Plunge! He does it every year and I’m so proud of him! He only has like 3% body fat, so I imagine it’s SUPER COLD but he does it anyway!

My new Rhodeisan Ridgback pup is now about 15 weeks. And boy, is he a handful! He keeps me going 24/ ! He’s like a mouth with legs wanting to chew everything in site! And although he is such a tough little guy, to appease his vocal displeasure so I can get some sleep he ends up in my bed at night. Yikes! I know Cesar would not approve!

There are so many great smoothies to make! And I love them in the morning because I normally don’t feel like eating much in the morning. This way I get some fresh food in my system to start the day.

Mainly I just blend Spinich, and/or Kale and frozen banana and some frozen fruit ( I Iike the mixed berries from Costco) with some Almond milk. Sometimes I add a good protein powder. And then I add some ground Flaxeed and Agave honey if I’m craving sweet.

I’ve made all kinds of smoothies. And I love them all.

Some people say NOT to blend, because you can consume so many calories that you should be EATING instead. But I know I won’t eat KALE unless it’s in a smoothie, and sometimes I want to know I’m getting some good nutrition but I don’t feel like eating, so this  works for me.
