The Boston Marathon has confirmed that the explosions were in fact bombs, though everyone is still unclear on exactly what happened. We do not know who set them off.  The bombs exploded at approximately 2:45 p.m. Eastern time and at the 4 hour and 9 minute mark of the race.   2 people are confirmed dead and 23 others injured.

The Boston Marathon website has a list of local runners and their finish times and it appears that Ellie Hedel of Richland, WA crossed just three minutes before the first bomb.  We pray that she and her family are okay.  To see where other local runners finished go to the Boston Marathon website.
