It seems that after New Years, we tend to get a lot of the gray gloomy weather, up until about the end of February!

Lots of people head off to Hawaii, or the Bahamas this time of year. But, if you have to stay put, here are some things you can do to survive this part of the season.

1.Get yourself a 'Happy Light' and turn it on while you are working, reading etc, I bought mine at Costco for a pretty good price.

2. Take Vitamin D. ( I think I take D3) research this...but take the appropriate mg for you. Talk to your doctor if you think necessary.

3. Force yourself to get OUTDOORS in spite of the weather! Bundle up and walk, jog, ride, skate, bicycle. Do something! You'll find the cold, gray, gloom is not so bad once you are out exercising in it! You will begin to actually appreciate the cool crisp days!

4. Get to the gym or some type of exercise facility and work out! You will be happy, healthier and more energetic! This is a great time of year to start a dance class!

5. Force yourself to socialize! At least once a week, do a little something, with someone. A cup of coffee, or tea with a pal, or go listen to some live music, or go to a play, a Community event or a function of some kind.

6. Instead of eating Comfort Food, opt for healthy choices of fruits, vegetables and lean proteins.

6. Take time to Breathe Deep 3 times a day for 5 minutes. (I'm new to this one...and just now trying it, ) it's supposed to help with anxiety and will add a sense of calm to your whole system and help you rest better at night. When you can do 3 x a day add two more. It's a form of meditation.

Okay...that's all I can think of! Soon it will be sunny and summer! So..remember, this gray gloom is temporary! Good luck!
