KORD Waking Crew advises you to keep safe this 4th of July! Don't blow your fingers off with an M-80.

There are a reported 9,800 firework related injuries each year. Half of those, belonging to children under the age of 15. Want to make sure you're not one of those people? Try to stick to these few safety tips:

- Make sure the fireworks you purchase are legal, the laws are there for a reason!
- Read the directions
- Have an adult present
- Use fireworks outdoors only
- Never use near flammable materials, including dry grass
- Light one at a time
- Never point fireworks at someone
- Have a water source ready
- Always remember, fireworks are not toys!
