Autopsy Suggests Ethan Austin Shot Sister, Then Self

Mike Morgan

Kennewick police have released the conclusions of the autopsy performed Wednesday. They say Kaitlin Austin died of multiple gun shots to her head and body. Ethan died of a single shot to the head.

The bodies were found in one of the bedrooms in their home with the gun nearby — according to Ethan’s father, Andrew Austin, who discovered the children around 5 p.m. Monday.

According to the Tri-City Herald, the police are stopping short of saying Ethan shot his sister and self at this time.

Ethan was 12 years old and a sixth-grader at Desert Hills Middle School in Kennewick. Kaitlin, 16, was a junior at Kamiakin High School in Kennewick. She was his half sister.
