10 Holiday Events That Would Be Awesome at the Southridge Sports and Events Complex [SPONSORED]

TRAC and the Toyota Center have always been great places to hold events in the Tri-Cities, but this holiday season we're shifting our attention to the Southridge Sports and Events Complex. This venue would be an awesome spot to hold a holiday celebration! I would like to see some more interesting events come to our area to promote merriment and cheer... 'tis the season!

• 1. Christmas Tree Festival

A Festival of Trees is a fundraising event for a children's hospital in Utah. There are more than 700 decorated trees, a gingerbread village, and live entertainment among many more attractions.

• 2. Ice Carving

Ice Art Championships attract teams and individual artists from around the world to create the best freezing sculpture.

• 3. Film Festival

There are no major film festivals in the Mid Columbia. We could start one! Why not a holiday-themed film festival!

• 4. Indoor Petting Zoo

On Dasher! On Dancer! On Prancer and Vixen! Who doesn't love Santa's reindeer? I propose a reindeer petting zoo!

• 5. Three-on-three basketball tournament

It is a sports complex after all. We'd like to see some cool tournaments!

• 6. Family Reunions or Work Parties

There's no better way to boost morale than a work party. And an extended family party would be a great way to kick off the holiday season and bring together all those relatives you don't see often enough -- or maybe even know you have...

• 7. Holiday Circus

TRAC and the Toyota Center are awesome, but something like a holiday circus could make good use of the Southridge Sports and Event Complex.

• 8. Live Nativity

I've heard of drive-thru Nativity scenes, but what about an indoor one that is just as big with as many different scenes? The Southridge Sports and Event Complex could hold the largest Nativity scene of all time!

• 9. The Radio City Rockettes

The Radio City Rockettes don't usually leave the big city for their Christmas Spectacular, but if we could get them to come to the Tri-Cities it would be... spectacular!!

A mall Santa convention would be so nice! To get them all together for a nice mug of eggnog... and maybe some Christmas karaoke?

• Bonus: Fashion Show

The complex would be perfect for a fashion show. How about a holiday fashion show? Maybe a holiday lingerie fashion show for men? Or a cute elf pajama fashion show for kids? Maybe an ugly Christmas sweater fashion show for grandmas.

The Southridge Sports and Events Complex is 52 acres in south Kennewick including the Plaza building and the HUB building – both great for facilitating events. The Plaza building costs $25 an hour with a damage deposit of $75 and a cleaning fee of $30 if food is served. The Plaza building has meeting & office space. The HUB building is located in the four baseballs/multi-use fields with a concession stand, restrooms, an umpire room and a meeting area to schedule and host events. Southridge Sports and Event Complex has a community play area, it has a playground, large splash pad and a gazebo. In warm weather, you can rent the gazebo and host a birthday party for your kids or do a family event.
